About Us
What is FELASA?
FELASA is composed of independent European national and regional laboratory animal science associations. It is managed solely by representatives of its constituent associations in those countries and was established by these organisations in 1978.
What does FELASA do?
FELASA represents the common interest of its constituent associations. It coordinates the development of education and training for those engaged in the provision or use of laboratory animals, animal health monitoring and other topics.
The group publishes recommendations on education and training for persons responsible for the well-being of laboratory animals, for persons responsible for the design and conduct of studies involving animal experimentation, and for specialists in laboratory animal science. It maintains relations with national, international and governmental bodies concerned with laboratory animal science in Europe, notably the Council of Europe and the Commission of the European Union and continuously seeks collaborations with laboratory animal science associations outside Europe.
FELASA also organises an international scientific meeting every three years.
